In 2019, I had the opportunity to collaborate with another designer to create Docaposte's first-ever design system, now known as the Cobalt Design System. This project was a significant milestone for Docaposte and its subsidiaries, providing a comprehensive UX and UI framework that serves as a toolkit for all stakeholders involved in digital projects. The primary goal was to ensure consistency and cohesiveness across the brand's digital presence, whether it be products, services, websites, or interfaces.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Cobalt Design System were:

  1. Ensure Consistency: Create a unified design language that aligns with Docaposte's brand identity.
  2. Improve Accessibility: Design with accessibility standards to ensure ease of navigation for all users, regardless of physical or mental abilities.
  3. Enhance Usability: Develop intuitive, coherent, and welcoming products.
  4. Facilitate Collaboration: Provide a shared reference for designers, developers, and other stakeholders to streamline workflows and improve productivity.

Design and Accessibility

The Cobalt Design System was meticulously crafted to adhere to accessibility norms, ensuring that navigation is seamless for all users. This included designing for internal portals, management platforms, and other professional environments. By focusing on accessibility, we aimed to create digital experiences that are inclusive and functional for everyone.

Key features include:

Structure and Robustness

The system is built around modular blocks and cards, which help in structuring, stabilizing, and organizing content. This modularity simplifies its use and provides a clear and precise hierarchy of information. The principles driving this structure are trust, stability, and robustness.
